Sutton Foster gave an amazing speech at Ball State University during their 2012 Graduation and it was perfection. So inspirational. She said something that I will always follow by:
"Don't be a jerk."
How much simpler can it get? This video taught me so much on taking chances and being nice to everyone and that it may affect you somehow. She makes the funniest facial expressions and I laughed so much. She is my idol.
Please take 15:43 minutes of your life and watch.

Tony Nominations
Yesterday. May 1st. The Tony Nominations came out. I was in Language Arts at the time, and at about 8:45, we went to the computer lab and I was like THANK GOD. I finally got to see the nominations and here are some of my thoughts...
- Once had 11 nominations. Woah. I have never seen this show but I had a friend that went to New York a few days before me and saw the show that weekend. He LOVED it so I'm sure he's happy about this. After researching some stuff on it, it kind of interests me.
- Newsies has 8. I entered the lotto for it when I was up in NYC but I didn't win, I won the Ghost tickets instead. Anyway, I have done some researching on this and this show looks awesome! The same friend in the previous thought got a chance to see some of the dress rehearsals that same weekend! Also, this lady who played Eva in Evita this past Summer at my local theatre currently lives in New York and her friend is a swing in it! I hope this wins some Tony's!
- Evita got 3. Three. THREE. Seriously? I think it deserved more. Not because I have been in the show, but it was truly spectacular. The set was unbelievable, the light was magnificent, the choreography was amazing, and the cast was lovely. As a first night preview, I was impressed. I seriously am rooting for Michael Cervaris and hope he wins. I will always remember him when he came out of the Stage door at midnight with a slice of pizza in his hand.
- Ghost got 3. This is ok, but I'm in shock it got the same amount of nominations as Evita. Ghost was good. The cast was awesome and the scenery, lighting, and way they made him look like a ghost was cool. I just think it should have stayed as a movie, because the movie is still the bomb!!!
Overall, I wasn't quite impressed. This year hasn't been as great as others. This is the 1st year I have actually taken serious consideration towards this event because my passion for theatre has grown SO much in the past year. Now I'm finally quite excited for the Tony's and hope Broadway adds its pizzazz back.. SOON!

NYC Photos
I was bored tonight, so I decided to finally put the pictures up from my Spring Break trip to NYC. I have a lot more, but that would've taken forever to download, and 46 is enough. These are from my camera and my phone so if you see the same event lower down, sorry, that's just how my computer is. The first section is from my camera and the second is from my phone. Some may not be turned correctly, so I'm sorry about that, but I hope you enjoy!

Connections.
Since it is that technology era, people communicate and share in a variety of ways. Just to share, I will show some websites I am on or ways to follow me! Here they are:
Instagram Username: theatre__geek (that is 2 of these __ , not 1 _ )
Twitter Username: @AddlynTeague
Tumblr website name: www.addyqueen102.tumblr.com
I am not displaying my facebook because I have to keep things like that private and anyway its blocked from creeps and stuff like that. On Instagram, I just post random photos. On twitter, I post mainly my thoughts and feelings towards things. On tumblr, thats like my main 'blog' and reblog photos on theatre and humor (of course, because I'm theatrical hilarity!!!)
Anyway, If you are a part of any, please follow me!!! I plan on getting a Pinterest in the Summer, so I'll post about that later. Thanks all!

I'm back!
Hey! I'm so sorry lately I haven't posted. I do go on here on a regular basis but only to see profile posts. I have wanted to post about things, but I haven't had the time. Anyway, I'll try to sum up what I have been doing in the past few weeks:
- I didn't make it into Harrison.
It was my choice high school and I was hoping to get in it, but when I opened the letter, everything changed. I cried for three hours straight. I didn't talk to anyone that weekend. I felt like there was nothing I could do to make it better, but eventually, I got sympathy. A LOT of sympathy. And I appreciate everyone's kind and thoughtful words. That has helped me and just looking at the bright side. I mean the high school I will go to now has amazing AP classes and well-known sports leagues. They hold a lot of awards and have notable alumni, such as the CEO of the Real D 3-D Glasses and (cough, cough) my mom. And, THANK GOD Harrison allows you to audition for your 10th Grade year. This time, I will be more prepared and know what to expect.
Through all this madness, I still wish I got in.
-I went to New York City for the first time.
It was the greatest trip ever. I loved everything. I accomplished most of my goals. I got to go inside the Radio City Music Hall and that held 6,000 people. I was on the Today Show and the day before, I walked by Al Roker. I was on the American Eagle Billboard in Times Square for 15 seconds. I got to see The Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and The Metropolitan Opera House. Best of all, I saw 5 shows in five nights!
Monday: The First Preview of Evita
Tuesday: How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying
Wednesday: Sister Act
Thursday: Anything Goes (First show with Stephanie J. Block)
Friday: Ghost- The Musical
The hotel I stayed at was amazing. The pizza was the bomb. I loved almost every moment of New York and I can't wait to go again. I might create another post to show some photos!
-I turned 14.
Actually, this wasn't that long ago. Monday, actually. I didn't really consider it though, mainly because I had a cold. Also, I had school and I hate Mondays. Fridays are my favorite, and since this is Friday, I kind of celebrated today. I went to a Jump center with my friend since Kindergarten and then had dinner tonight at my favorite restaurant with my family. I can't believe its already April, I am about to end middle school, and I am going to be able to drive in less than a year!!!

Spring Break In the City That Never Sleeps
Ever since I became interested in theatre, I have always wanted to go to New York City. My parents and I were planning to go on Spring Break 2011, but a show (Sound of Music**) came up and prevented me from going. For Spring Break 2012, guess where we're going? NYC!!!!!!!! I'm SO excited and cannot wait! I'm even counting down the days (15!)
Now that the time is finally here, I am planning SO much. I am, of course, going to go see some musicals, and I'm guessing 3! Two that I most definitely want to go see is Anything Goes and How to $ucceed in Business Without Really Trying. I am still thinking of a third. I also have a friend I will see up there and maybe go see a show together!
I have always been checking the weather forecast of NYC and comparing it to where I live. It is a HUGE difference! It may be 74 where I live and 39 up there! I understand it will be cold, and that means packing sweaters and lots of clothing! This will be a challenge for me because I am staying up there for 5 nights, and only one piece of luggage. I will try to pack "light" and stay warm at the same time!
Now I am going to list a few things I am think about doing in NYC:
- Seeing 3 Broadway shows
- Going to the Statue of Liberty
- Walk around Times Square
- Go to Central Park
- Taking a tour of the Radio City Music Hall*
- Taking a tour of Julliard
- Going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art

- Going to Rockefeller Center (and maybe go Ice Skating there?)
I know not many people may read this blog, but if you have any suggestions or tips on ANYTHING ABOUT NYC, that would be GREATLY appreciated! I am SO excited!
* Just as a fact about my family's history. My great-aunt Barbara was a NYC Rockette and I am VERY proud of that. I believe most of my talent in theatre comes from her and that is mainly why I am touring the Radio City Music Hall. My mom still has a photo of my great-aunt when she was younger and look what she can do!!! I hope that maybe one day, when I am flexible enough, I will be able to do this!!!

** ANOTHER fact about my family's history is that my father went to NYC when he was about my age. When he went, it was the time when "The Sound of Music" just came out to the movie theatres' and his hotel he was staying at was right next to one! One night, he went ALL BY HIMSELF to see the movie and loved it. He loved it SO much, he saw it AGAIN the next night. It is his favorite movie, my mom's favorite movie, and MY favorite movie of all time. What I thought was hilarious was that he saw SOM up in NYC, and then I didn't go to NYC because I was doing SOM!

Patti LuPone Experience
Last Thursday, the 16th, I had the wonderful opportunity to see Patti LuPone at the Historic Polk Theatre. I decided to go see her the night before and was thrilled. Thing is, I was wondering why would she come to such a small town? Why not a place like Orlando? Or Tampa?
When my mom and I arrived, I met my friend who I sat with and she sat in the balcony. The show was about to begin, and then the pianist walks out. Finally, the music being played crescendos and Patti walks out. APPLAUSE EVERYWHERE!
Throughout the first act, she sings songs that I didn't really know that well. They were great, especially this song that talked about her mean Italian family, and that was HILARIOUS! Sometimes, I could not understand a word she said, but that's mainly what she does. I could tell she was hot on stage and drank from a glass of water on the piano. In between songs, she would talk, and once, she said that "we were the best audience and the best theatre" and kept thinking to myself, "She has probably said that to every theatre she's been to." Over Intermission, I talked to many friends I saw there and discussed on the whole "Why Lakeland?" topic.
Then came Act 2, or as I call it "The Broadway Act," because she sangs all of her most notable songs in this act. One of the first songs she sang was "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" from EVITA and I was a part of that production at my local community theatre this past summer. When the music started playing, I immediately knew and my friend and I freaked out in our seats. Haha! It was AMAZING and the highlight of the show. That number received roaring applause.
For the rest of the show, she tricked me THREE times into thinking the show was over. On one number, before it started, she gave a speech on how she LOVES West Side Story and wishes she was Latino to be a part of that show. Before she sang, she said something like," I would have been good enough for West Side Story, heck, I would have been good enough to play TWO ROLES in West Side Story!" She started singing "A Boy Like That" all by herself. That song is a duet number, therefore she sang BOTH parts, and was really good at it. Overall, a humorous number.
When the show ended, my friend and I ran to the Stage door to greet her, along with about 70 other people. After 30 minutes or so, she finally came out and took autographs. We weren't allowed to take a photo with her, but could take a photo of her. I took about 20 photos and the closest one was blurry but she was like right in my face. She did sign my Playbill of the show, and it is laying on my dresser in my room right now.As my mom and I rode home, I did homework, which I was not looking forward to, AT ALL. It was overall a fantastic show and I can now say I've met and have performed on the same stage as Patti LuPone. Not a lot of people can say that.
